MIHE’s PhD student Mohammad Arif Al Makkawi (third from the right) was examined on Wednesday 26th April 2017, and we congratulate him on successfully passing his PhD. The title of his thesis was “Exploring the Role of Muslim Faith-based schools in Birmingham in Meeting the Religious, Cultural and Educational Needs of Muslim Children and Expectations of their Parents”.

The Institute also congratulates his supervisory team, both Dr Abdullah Sahin (lead supervisor) and Dr Ataullah Siddiqui (second supervisor).

The external examiner was Dr Nick Peim (University of Birmingham), and the internal examiners were Dr. Ian G. Williams and Dr Shahrul Hussain.
